A Madhya Pradesh Congress politician tweeted himself into a major controversy on Wednesday by comparing an array of central techniques, such as demonetisation and GST, to “daughters” compelled on the region to get a “son” – Vikas (growth).

“People today have been hoping for a son but what they bought as a substitute was five daughters. All of these daughters were being born but a son, Vikas, has not been born nevertheless,” Jitu Patwari, a former instruction minister and the doing work president of his party’s condition device, stated.

Jitu Patwari is an MLA from the Rau constituency in Madhya Pradesh.

The obnoxious and sexist remark was an attempted assault on the government’s “sabka saath, sabka vikas (with all, advancement for all)” slogan used freely by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during campaigning for the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Mr Patwari posted an apology, of kinds, shortly following, writing: “I regret if any sentiments have been hurt” and introducing “as significantly as daughters are worried, they are divine”.

“Modiji broke the back again of the country’s overall economy with demonetisation, GST, inflation, unemployment and economic downturn. The public endured all this only in the hope of growth. I regret if any sentiments have been hurt,” he wrote.

Mr Patwari also re-asserted his declare that he had only meant to target the BJP around “its weaknesses” and unsuccessful promises to the people.

Amid all those to lash out at Jitu Patwari was Main Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who demanded Congress chief Sonia Gandhi response for her celebration colleague’s crass remark.

“As the place is celebrating sacrifice of Rani Durgavati (a mid-16th century queen), he is tweeting that 5 daughters have been born for a son. Is it a criminal offense to have daughters? Has Sonia Gandhi offered the undertaking of humiliating daughters to this chief?” Mr Chouhan asked.

The NCW (Nationwide Fee for Females) has taken cognisance of Jitu Patwari’s misogynist tweet, with the agency’s chairperson, Rekha Sharma stating “will ask for an rationalization from him for confident”.

“It is unfortunate that these people, with this type of head-established, are contacting themselves leaders. What are they educating to their followers, I wonder. Will check with for an explanation from him for confident,” the NCW chairperson tweeted in reaction to a message by BJP spokesperson
