Two-time Commonwealth Video games gold medallist Heena Sidhu on Tuesday hailed the banning of the online video-sharing social networking application TikTok. It was a person of the 59 Chinese apps that the Indian govt banned on Monday thanks to protection worries.

“I am so satisfied that tiktok is long gone. With the despise video clips and animal abuse movies that I have been coming throughout staying posted on tiktok… I am so delighted. Net will be a happier spot without tiktok!!!” Sidhu tweeted on Tuesday.

“It is not gone however but I hope the govt follows through. The obligation lies with the developers for enabling these written content to become not just noticeable but viral. Until they adjust their norms for content material uploading this app shouldn’t have a place in our lives,” the Indian Olympian reported.

The authorities on Monday banned 59 Chinese apps in excess of countrywide protection concerns as India-China bilateral relations remain strained following the death of 20 Indian troopers in the Galwan Valley clash with Chinese PLA troops in jap Ladakh.

Other Chinese apps in the banned listing are Club Manufacturing facility, SHAREit, Likee, Mi Movie Contact (Xiaomi), Weibo, Baidu, Bigo Live and other folks.

TikTok on Tuesday said it is in the method of complying with the Indian federal government buy to ban 59 Chinese apps, which includes TikTok, and is not sharing any knowledge of Indian consumers with the Chinese federal government.
